REVITALISED Stourport Swifts are pursuing the signature of Herefordshire hotshot Mark Davis.

Boss Dave Titterton wants further talks with the 25-year-old, a prolific scorer for Kington Town in the West Midlands League.

Davis, who also bagged many goals for Pegasus Juniors, would be a much-needed extra striking option for Titterton.

He said: "Apparently, he's the best talent in Herefordshire and I am hopeful he will sign as he's a very ambitious lad."

Swifts are without suspended skipper Kerry Giddings for Saturday's home game with mid-table Atherstone but Michael Moore should return after resting a groin strain.

They are undefeated in the Dr Martens Western Division under Titterton with seven points from three games following Saturday's 2-1 win at fellow strugglers Rocester.

But Swifts were dumped out of the Dr Martens Cup on Tuesday by league leaders Bromsgrove Rovers in a 4-1 defeat at Walshes Meadow.

Titterton warned: "You cannot afford to switch off against quality teams and it cost us four goals.

"I expected us to give a good account of ourselves due to our form over the last three league games.

"However, we are not going to be playing Bromsgrove every week. No disrespect to Atherstone but they're not up to Bromsgrove's standard.

"They're still a good outfit and have been trying to bring in loan players recently.

"I want us to get to the 10-point mark which will hopefully be by Saturday and it's vital we do get something out of the next few games."

Former Aston Villa youngster John Malpass, 19, made his debut as a sub against Bromsgrove.

Titterton added: "He hasn't played football for eight months but sometimes players need a break away after being released by a club.

"He's a midfielder who gets his foot in but can also pass the ball well and is a friend of my brother-in-law!"

Titterton was unable to sign a Premier Division target who has opted to fight for a place at his current club.

Swifts play at home to Taunton Town in the league on Tuesday (7.45pm).
