John Mason, of Worcester Probus, talked about Doodle Bugs and Rockets, describing the German development of flying bombs and rockets at Piedmund, and how air attacks delayed production until 1944.

Thousands of doodle bugs were directed at London, but were overcome by improved air defences and the allied advance into France.

October 16 was Members' Day, and a new member, John Burbey, formerly a schoolteacher in Stourbridge, recounted his wartime experiences of air raids in London and Exeter, his technical training with Vickers and his RAF service, involving the development of many new aircraft.

Josef Lorbert, born in Belgrade, speaks four languages. After his wartime experiences he moved to England and has acted as interpreter and lecturer in modern languages at Dudley and Halesowen Colleges.
