DEPLETED Stourport are third from bottom in North Midlands One after a 27-7 defeat at Bromyard.

They dominated the early stages in Herefordshire but failed to break down a stout defence.

And Bromyard then turned the ball over by their own 22-yard line and eventually fed their winger in for an excellent converted try.

The full-back, who dictated the move, was the difference between the two sides all game.

Stourport played well in patches but grew frustrated and their problems were not helped when a clearance was charged down for the fly-half to grab a converted try.

The visitors were reduced to 14 men at half-time but they battled hard to secure a well-worked try, finished off by Alistair Simpson who had an excellent game at number eight.

Sascha Hobbs converted but Bromyard finished them off with two tries and a penalty.

Skipper Lee Philp returned from injury for his first league game of the season.

The town side proved too strong for young opposition though the game was harder than the score suggests.

Stourport struck with two quick Nick Smith tries followed by efforts from Dave Williams and Alan Blakeley.

Debutant Gavin Kimberley grabbed three second-half tries alongside scores from Andy Foster, Owain Butler and Rich Abbotts.
