THE Evesham-based training company Active Learning and Development Ltd and train operator First Great Western have been recognised for their outstanding commitment to training in the National Training Awards final to be held on November 7.

The two businesses joined forces to improve skills among First Great Western's front-line managers and so boost performance and customer confidence following the Hatfield rain crash in October 2000.

The nationally accredited Leadership Horizons programme was designed to enhance manager's initiative and creativity and help them, through their staff, provide outstanding service to customers.

Tony Davis, managing director of Active Learning and Development, in Vine Street, said: "We are delighted to be the cause of so much success."
