A DRIVER was assaulted at the roadside by another motorist in an unprovoked attack in Stourport on Saturday.
The victim was in his car in Hartlebury Road, close to the junction with Wilden Lane, when a stranger in a silver R-registered Vauxhall Vectra got out and hit him in the face in what appeared to be a "road rage-style" incident.
Two horseriders passing by shouted at the assailant, who got back in his car and drove off.
A police spokesman said the attack, which occurred at about 10.45am, was a mystery.
"It appears at first to be a road rage incident but the victim has no idea what caused the other driver, who was a stranger, to strike him."
The attacker was white, in his mid 20s, about 6 ft and slim with short blonde hair.
Kidderminster Police would particularly like to speak to the horseriders who witnessed the incident and can be contacted on 01562 820888.
