HOCKEY: Struggling Kidderminster were brought back down to earth with a bang after Saturday's 7-0 home defeat to King's Heath Pickwick in DTZ League Midlands One.

Following the previous week's promising win over North Stafford, the town found their latest opponents much tougher.

Kidderminster started strongly and had the best chances of taking the lead inside the first 20 minutes.

But a breakaway by King's Heath and a similar goal just five minutes later when the home side were reduced to 10 men made it 2-0 at the break.

The visitors dominated the second half and added to their total with the help of some controversial umpiring decisions.

Kidderminster fell behind in the first minute and were 3-0 behind by half-time despite trying to get a goal back.

But in a goal-less second half they showed great spirit and never gave up.

There was once again good displays from the youngsters, forwards Joe Sorrell and Danny Mazurick as well as keeper Stuart Wharton.

Kate McGowan has now scored hat-tricks in both her two club appearances as the ladies recorded a third win in a row.

Kidderminster dominated the first half but only led 1-0 at the interval after excellent work through the midfield was finished off by McGowan who dummied the keeper.

The town strengthened their lead in the opening 10 minutes of the second period with a great right-wing Rachael Fidoe break setting up McGowan.

She claimed her hat-trick and the town, whose defence was rarely troubled, were unlucky not to get more when a Lesley Duffin effort was ruled out.
