TAKE a trip back in time with Maria Gibbs who is appearing in Redditch on Saturday.

Maria is bringing back the warmth, wit and gentle humour of the late Joyce Grenfell with a performance at the Palace Theatre, which has captivated audiences all over the country.

The young, versatile entertainer has a fine singing voice and a natural feel for comedy. It is said not only does she look like Joyce, she sounds exactly like her too.

She said: "For some years I've been reading everything there is to read about Joyce Grenfell. I've got all the videos, CDs and tapes, and have learned most of her best sketches and songs.

"As a great admirer of Joyce, I was thrilled to be offered to play my heroine on stage," she added.

She is supported by Mark Ponsford on piano, who is no stranger to the Palace Theatre having been musical director and composer for three pantomimes produced by the Palace Theatre Company.

Tickets cost £10.50 and are available by calling 01527 65203.
