PARISH COUNCIL: The letter received from Peter Wright confirmed that there were now two communications masts in Croome Perry Wood one operated by Orange and the other by T Mobile, but the council was never made aware of the application for the latter.

The Millennium Green was officially opened by Olive Stevenson on August 26 and pictures and report appeared in the local press.

The RAF Defford Memorial was officially unveiled by Sir Bernard Lovell during a dedication service conducted by the Rev Peter Thomas. This was combined with the annual reunion held in the village hall where refreshments and displays were available.

The RAF Boscombe Down provided a BAC111 aircraft for a flypast at the conclusion of the service.

Following the provision of a new flag and flagpole for St James, Defford, it was agreed to purchase a new flag for St Peters at Besford.

Unfortunately Wychavon District Council had decided not to fund the rebuilding of the church wall and was threatening to re-coup the money via a special supplement on the precept. The parish council was taking legal advice on this matter but in the meantime anyone considering this to be an unacceptable burden on the council tax should write to the managing director Mr S Pritchard.
