A MALVERN-based maker of short films is hoping to boost the profile of the art by encouraging people to join a co-operative.

Martin Kelly, of West Malvern Road, has formed the Malvern Film Co-operative to give locals interested in making short films and documentaries the chance to shine.

Mr Kelly is a part-time tutor in the subject at Worcester College of Technology and begins a similar course at Malvern Hills College next month.

He hopes the co-operative will help build on the interest in the courses.

"We want to start a longer term thing because there's not a great deal going on with short film making at the moment," said Mr Kelly.

"We want to get a group of like- minded individuals together to see if we can source materials so we can start making short films and maybe get grants."

Mr Kelly said that the co-operative would appeal to a wide range of film- makers, from those who produce one-minute experimental films to those who make 15-minute films with a cast of ten, full dialogue and a beginning, middle and end.

Anyone interested in joining the Malvern Film Co-operative, should contact Martin Kelly on 01684 577756.
