Evesham 39pts, Kings Norton 10

EVESHAM returned to winnings ways on Saturday with an impressive victory over rivals Kings Norton in a non league fixture.

Youngster Adam Huttlestone opened the scoring for Evesham after just five minutes when he fielded a clearance kick on halfway and then evaded numerous tackles before out pacing the covering defence to score in the corner.

Centre Tim Carsberg was unlucky with his touchline conversion attempt but soon made up for this miss with a well struck long-range penalty.

Athletic second row Carl Cole added Evesham's second try shortly afterwards when he also evaded a number of tackles before diving over for an unconverted try.

The home side maintained the pressure for almost the whole of the first half but a ten minute lapse before the interval saw the visitors score a converted try and then a penalty to cut Evesham's half-time lead to just three points.

After the break, flanker Jim Moulton entered the fray replacing brother Sean in the back row. His impact was almost immediate driving Evesham right up to up the KN line.

Cole fell awkwardly attempting to score his second try and had to leave the field giving Sean the opportunity to rejoin the action in the back row.

Evesham then started their onslaught and scored four further tries. Skipper Gary Diston had a hand in the first two creating one for Huttlestone and another for veteran full back Pat Johnson. Carsberg added one conversion.

The flowing rugby continued and both centres added tries of their own. First Ian Hurley crashed through and then Carsberg glided his way over the line. Carsberg added both conversions to complete the scoring.

Evesham return to league action at home to Southam on Saturday.

The second string won 34-21 on their Merit Table fixture on the Welsh border against Luc-tonians.

The fourths, meanwhile, won handsomely against Oxford Harlequins who boasted a far heavier pack.

Mike Biltcliffe's penalty was the only score of the first half, but tries from Geoff Cowley, Rob Camp, Alex Badger and Ian Williams and two Biltcliffe conversions helped Evesham to a 27-0 success.
