The county branch of a national charity which gives carers a break needs more staff.

Crossroads Care came into existence after concern from members of the public following a story line in the television soap Crossroads, when Sandy Richardson became wheelchair-bound, making enormous demands on his mother, Meg.

The Pebble Mill studios were inundated with calls from people in a similar situation, who were getting no help.

The National Association and Worcestershire branch were formed soon afterwards.

Crossroads is looking for more carers who are able to work flexible hours, have a car, and who are interested in supporting people suffering from various illnesses and disabilities.

Possibly people who have raised a family or have been involved with caring for a relative - young or old - would be interested.

A salary and mileage allowance is paid to all staff, who are given support and training.

Anyone who feels they could help, is asked to telephone 01905 729293.
