PARISH COUNCIL: A recurring theme at this month's meeting was the state of various roads and footpaths in the parish. The road leading to the motorway bridge at Bredon's Hardwick was discussed in particular, and it was agreed that what had once been a country lane had never been thoroughly constructed to take the volume of traffic. A request was made that the footpath between Bredon's Hardwick and Bredon should be cleared. The question of heavy lorries using the B4080 to avoid weight restrictions in Tewkesbury was discussed and it was reported that the police had said that even if a limit were imposed, they would not be able to enforce it.

The chairman, Mr Derrick Grainger, revealed the plans for the layout at the side of the village hall which will include plantings of shrubs, a specimen tree with surrounding benches, a limited car parking space for caterers and village hall management. It was reported that substantial temporary fencing had been knocked down by grown men who should know better. The fence had been placed there to protect the needs of the Football Club, and they would be asked to keep an eye open for the culprits, whom the parish council was prepared to prosecute.

The clerk, Mr Tim Foster, gave notice of informal road shows featuring various youth agencies, and intended for youth organisations and representatives of village hall administrators. These will be at Inkberrow on Wednesday, November 13, Honeybourne November 22 and Crowle on February 12.

BRITISH LEGION: The AGM of RBL is on Monday, November 4, at 7.45pm. Also the famous Poppy Appeal Coffee Morning, enjoyed by many will be on Tuesday, November 5, at 10.30am in the village hall. There will be home-made cakes, produce, bric-a-brac and books.
