FAMILIES coming back from a night out at Walsall illuminations were left shaken and shocked after vandals smashed their coach window.

Shattered glass flew into the Dudley's coach on the same night another bus service was targeted.

Boomerang Bus Company made the Evening News' headlines on Tuesday when it announced it had withdrawn its Number 36 and 38 bus services.

Its buses, which ran from 6.30pm till midnight from Monday to Saturday, were withdrawn after bricks were hurled at them two nights running in Warndon's Cranham Drive.

One of the missiles narrowly missed a passenger.

Chris Dudley, of Dudley's Coaches, said one of his vehicles was also targeted on Cranham Drive on Saturday.

Some passengers had been dropped off just before the 10.30pm attack, he said, but some young children were still on board.

"The driver heard this noise and realised an object had been thrown at the side window," said Mr Dudley.

"The window was completely smashed but fortunately there were only a few passengers left on.

"If someone had been by the window, they would have been cut.

"The passengers and driver were shaken."

Mr Dudley, of Radford, near Inkberrow, said Dudley's Coaches has been operating excursions for the past six years.

The last attack to blight the company was three years ago, when a window was smashed on Astwood Road.

"It's been the talk of the yard," he said.

"People are concerned about it because of the problems Boomerang has had in the past, but we're not put off at the moment."

Kim Stain, spokeswoman for Worcester police, confirmed the incident had been reported.

Boomerang director Nick Warner said the incident highlighted the fact that buses were becoming a target for vandals.

He apologised again to the passengers he said the company had been forced into "letting down".
