TOWN centre residents were ordered to keep their windows shut following a major gas leak on Saturday.
Part of Alvechurch Highway was sealed off for two hours after the leak occurred during work to replace some old iron piping.
Gas supplies were not lost and the area was made safe at 1.10pm before the road re-opened at about 1.30pm.
