THE Faithful City's latest scheme to raise their profile with those from outside the immediate area is under way.

One of the oldest authorities in the nation is now at the forefront of information providing and, with the launch of their latest tourism internet web site, this information is available anywhere in the world.

The web site has been funded from the city's tourism budget, with some help from the coffers of the City Centre Forum.

Its published aim is to provide a one-stop arena for information about attractions, events, nightlife, shopping and accommodation.

Council worthy Derek Prodger says in today's Evening News: "The city has a lot to offer visitors and we hope that the new web site will raise the city's profile and encourage even more people from Britain and abroad to visit."

Very worthy comments, no doubt.

However, a quick taste of some Evening News headlines from the last few days makes interesting comparisons. "Metric madness in Worcester theme pub", "War games spark police alert", "Buses stoned off the roads", "Swan Theatre closure".

All these Evening News stories have caught the imagination of the regional and national press (The Cardinal's Hat saga featured in The Times on Saturday), who have folowed them up.

Add to this list today's front page exclusive story about call-girls in London Road.

It is these stories that are, at present, giving Worcester its reputation in the outside world.
