A PLAN to foil boy racers causing nightly disturbance on a Malvern retail park should be put into action without delay, said district councillor Tom Wells.

After complaints about the noise and nuisance, agents Insignia Richard Ellis have agreed to put up a barrier to stop the young drivers from getting on to the car park of the Three Counties Retail Park at night.

But Coun Wells wants to pin down a time scale for the work to be done.

"About a month ago I convened a site visit with the police, representatives of Malvern Hills District Council and Mark Grant, representing the agents, to hammer out a solution," he said.

"It isn't simple, as putting in barriers requires an amendment to the original planning approval, which required telescopic bollards that have not been installed.

"We are also going to have to look at the perimeter of the site, to make sure there is no access through the landscaped areas.

"We agreed to reconvene to assess progress and I am hoping this meeting will take place in the next fortnight."

Besides setting a timescale and ironing out any problems, it would be necessary to work with the manager of Safeway, on the adjoining site at Roman Way, to make sure they did not move the problem elsewhere, said Coun Wells.
