IN a hard fought, entertaining game, Colwall shared the points with Exeter Ladies in a 1-1 draw.
COLWALL WOMEN HC 1, EXETER LADIES 1
In an open first half Colwall almost took the lead when Nina Emery's cross just evaded Laura Macfarlane, while at the other end, Colwall goal keeper Anna Price was in fine form with a brilliant reflex save to push the ball around the post.
Colwall should have been a goal up just before half time but Laura Macfarlane's goal was ruled out, the umpire giving a penalty corner just as the ball was hit into the net.
In the second half Colwall started well with a succession of penalty corners, the Exeter goal keeper saving shots from Nina Emery and Laura Macfarlane. Emma Twigg was again outstanding in the home defence to deny Exeter and after a good clearance, Colwall earned another penalty corner from which Nina Emery scored to take the lead.
Several chances followed for both teams as play swung to and fro and Exeter equalised when a deflected cross fell in to the path of former Colwall player Sue Williams to slam the ball home.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Colwall make the long trip to St Austell (Cornwall).
