THE great niece of composer Sir Edward Elgar will be giving the next talk in the Music in Three Choirs Country series.
Margaret Elgar's talk on Elgar In My Time takes place at the composer's birthplace, in Lower Broadheath, on Wednesday, October 23.
The series opened on Wednesday, October 2, with a talk by Dr Roy Massey on the Three Choirs Festival.
On November 20, David Hackett will talk about two Gloucestershire-born composers, Holst and Vaughan Williams, while on December 11 the subject for Dr Trevor Hold is Song Composers of Three Choirs Country, a group which includes Elgar, Finzi and Parry. Dr Hold is the author of a major new book on English song.
Anthony Boden will talk about Ivor Gurney - Composer and Poet of Severn and Somme on February 12. Mr Boden is chairman of the Ivor Gurney Society.
The series concludes on March 12 with a talk by Dr John Harcup on Elgar, Music and Malvern, illustrated with historic photographs.
