A KITTEN who was abandoned at birth is now looking like the cat that got the cream!
Bentley, who is now owned by Teresa Henderson, of Blenheim Close, Bidford, scooped five rosettes at the Russian Blue Cat Show at Stratford Civic Hall, including first prize in the 'kitten which the judges would most like to take home' category.
Bentley, so called because of his running speed, along with his mother, Milly, was found abandoned in woods near Ragley Hall by Teresa's children, James and Chloe, while out riding their bikes in June.
The children first discovered Milly with a broken leg and half a tail and she led them to the small black kitten nearby.
Teresa said: "When they found the cats they got on their bikes and rushed home to tell me, so we went out in the car and collected them.
"Bentley was tiny and it was a time of the year when the weather was really hot so there was no water around or puddles, he had just been suckling on his mum.
"When we brought them home I put down some food for them and they wolfed it down."
She then asked a friend who worked at a veterinary surgery to look them over. A vet recognised who the cats were and knew who they belonged to.
The vets then contacted the owners to ask if they wanted them back, but they said they did not.
Teresa, who now owns both cats, said she was amazed how well Bentley, who was entered with the show name Chocolate Truffle, did in the show.
She said: "We didn't expect him to win anything, but he was as good as gold and loved the attention."
