DRAFT plans have been drawn up to replace the landmark Headless Cross Methodist Church which is so badly riddled with dry rot that it has to be demolished.
The 115-year-old Evesham Road church is a unique landmark in the area with its unusual open spire but the fabric of the building is on its last legs and maintenance costs are unsustainable.
But the church's Rev Carrol Popley said she was excited at the prospect of a new building with much more space and better facilities for the many community user groups.
If the new plans, revealed exclusively to The Advertiser, get the green light from the national Methodist Church, then work to raise the necessary £750,000 will begin.
The church already has £114,000 in pledged donations and the rest will, hopefully, come from grants and fund-raising.
If all goes to plan, the building could be ready in three years.
People can view the plans at the 'In Town Without My Car' Evesham Road street festival on Sunday and visit the church in the afternoon for cream teas.
