BIDFORD residents joined village firefighters to pay their respects to the people killed in the World Trade Center disaster.

Members of the parish council, along with the village's brownie unit and representatives of the primary school, were also among those who attended a special memorial service at the village fire station last Wednesday.

The service, which was conducted by Bidford vicar the Rev David Hall, included a fire service perspective by divisional officer Glen Ranger, head of operations for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, a reading by Bidford firefighter Mike Franklin and the fireman's prayer, read by station officer Simon West.

It was organised by Bidford firefighter Sam Clack, who said: "We thought it would be more appropriate to hold the service at the fire station. We had over 100 people attend and hope to do the service again next year."
