A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to six years' imprisonment for the rape of a woman near Redditch town centre in April.
In June, John Haynes, of Throckmorton Road, Greenlands, pleaded guilty to raping the 27-year-old woman in an alleyway off Ipsley Street, in the early hours of Saturday, April 13.
He was sentenced at Hereford Crown Court on Friday and his name will be placed on the sex offenders register for life.
After the case, a Redditch police spokesman said: "This case highlights the use of DNA because we managed to get samples very quickly and we were able to identify this offender within a matter of days."
