AN appeal has been launched to raise £2,000 for the restoration of Sambourne's war memorial.
The village green memorial has not been repaired for 38 years and the names on it are slowly fading.
Parish council chairman Dr Chris Clews said they were hoping to have it looking spick and span by Remembrance Day on November 11.
"There's a couple of interesting names on there as well, like Lieutenant Colonel RCB Throckmorton, nephew of Sir William and Major CEC Eagles, son of Canon Eagles who actually dedicated the memorial on December 25, 1919."
The memorial was originally paid for by a Redditch bead manufacturer named Mr Restall.
Anyone who would like to donate to the appeal can call parish council clerk Alan Harrison on 857674.
