PEOPLE are being asked to be patient while an £80,000 lighting and traffic calming scheme is installed in Alvechurch.

Work is underway to put in new lighting columns from Red Lion Street through The Square and Swan Street and the installation of traffic calming measures is due to start next month.

This will see mini islands at the junction of Birmingham Road with Red Lion Street and Tanyard Lane and the junction of Snake Lane with Callow Hill Road and Tanyard Lane.

There will also be a flat-topped speed hump installed in Swan Street.

The parish council is putting £50,000 towards the project, cash from a special fund which had been built up over the last four or five years.
