REDDITCH police are appealing for information after a woman discovered an intruder in her St George's Road home at about 6.45am on Saturday.
The woman found the man in one of the bedrooms and shouted at him to leave.
He then walked down the stairs and out of the front door.
It is not believed anything was stolen and a motive for the incident has yet to be established.
The man is described as white, aged 25-30, about 5ft 6ins tall, with a slim build and short, cropped dark hair.
He was wearing a cream coloured or off-white anorak-style jacket.
DC Di Knight said: "I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this man leave, or who knows who he is, to contact me in CID on 584888."
Anyone with information, who does not want to give their name, can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
Calls are free, not recorded and a reward may be offered for information leading to the arrest and charge of a suspect.
