AN Alcester woman alleged to have made untrue claims for courses at her college in newspaper adverts has handed herself in at Warwick Crown Court after a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Nazarine Osborne, aged 50, of Chapman Way, was due to appear at the end of last month to enter pleas on up to 20 charges under the Trade Descriptions Act, relating to adverts for Leamington-based Ariel College.

But she failed to attend and the court was told she had turned up earlier in the day and then left immediately after handing a letter to a security officer.

In the letter she claimed she was not ready to appear in court because she had problems with her solicitors, although prosecutor Emily Hamilton pointed out she had made the claim to magistrates and had been told to find a new solicitor in time for the Crown Court hearing.

At that time a warrant was issued for her arrest without bail but after she handed herself in at the court more than a week later, her case was adjourned to give her time to sort out her legal representation.

At that hearing, Osborne was granted bail until Friday, September 13, with conditions that she lived at her home address and reported to Alcester police station daily.

But, last Friday, her new solicitor Peter Freeman told the court that he had not had sufficient time to take full instructions from Osborne about the case - in which it is alleged that, in newspaper adverts, she made claims for courses at Ariel College which she knew to be false.

The case was again adjourned and Osborne was granted bail with the same conditions.
