BADSEY'S Under-12s completed an entertaining five-run victory over Bretforton last Sunday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Badsey struggled early on losing the early wickets of Marcus Humpston and Luke Mountney.

The Powell Brothers, Michael and Nick, steadied the innings and despite the loss of the former for 14, Nick batted with a composure beyond his 11 years to complete his maiden 50.

He was ably supported by a lively 23 not out from Ben Thould.

Bretforton started well with Jamie Clarke scoring an entertaining 33. Badsey's display in the field wasn't of their best of the season, nearly allowing their opponents a sniff of victory.

Ultimately, Bretforton finished five runs short with 125-5 off 20 overs in reply to Badsey's 130-3.

Another young club member was the star of the seniors side's mammoth 206-run victory over Winchcombe.

Eighteen-year-old Tom Paul scored his maiden century, smashing the ball to all parts of the ground in his 123 with 18 4s and three 6s.

He shared a second wicket stand of 202 with Dave Powell (82).

Spinner Steve Powell was the bowling hero taking 4-13 as Winchcombe crumbled to 80 all out.
