Two star

DESPITE thoughts to the contrary by my nine-year-old daughter, most of this album's 14 tracks sounded the same.

At one point, even though I had been listening quite intently, I had no idea how many I had heard! My views were backed up by nine-year-old's big teenage sister who summed it all up in one word - boring.

The band started their musical career encouragingly enough, offering a funky sound that youngsters loved to dance to. Today their records are still used generously in kiddies' dance classes, but with such a thumping monotony you pray none will be given air time on a car radio when you're stuck in a traffic jam with a weeny-bopper.

And not only do the tracks sound the same, the three 'kittens' themselves sound and look the same, which wasn't the case when Kerry Katona was still a band-member. She was the cat's whiskers with a different look, a more distinctive voice and an ability to lift the rest of the litter out of their blandness. Like the title of their hit single It's OK!, their songs are mediocre and their covers sad reflections on the original.

Sorry kittens, do you want to pour me another saucer of milk?
