FORMER Welsh International scrum-half David Llewellyn had agreed to assist Malvern Rugby Club in the development of youth rugby in the area.
Capped 23 times by Wales, Llewellyn played for Newport last year before being sidelined with a long-term injury.
Having received treatment from Malvern's Terry Moule, a sports injury specialist, Llewellyn has agreed to act on a voluntary basis as Youth Rugby Development Officer for the club.
He has already begun his duties with sessions at the Chase and Dyson Perrins Schools in Malvern, concentrating to date on years the seven to ten age group. It is hoped that this can be extended to other age groups and possibly other schools in the area.
Gary Tolley, chairman of youth development at Malvern RFC said: "This can only benefit schools and youth rugby in the Malvern area. We hope that the high profile that David Llewellyn brings us will help to swell the numbers of children participating in rugby in the area."
An added bonus to Malvern is that Llewellyn will be volunteering more of his free time to assist club coach Andy Cushing in the development of the senior squad.
