CONGRATULATIONS to Stourport Town Forum and chairman Derek Fradgley for a prompt and imaginative response to the offer from British Waterways to provide land and the forum's intentions to finance the development of a skatepark.
I am sure the young people of Stourport will much appreciate this and they will be able to pursue their healthy activities in a safe place without causing annoyance to other people.
I am surprised that Stourport Town Council have left it to an independent group to take the initiative. A few years ago a proposal was passed at a town council meeting to allocate an area of the Memorial Park to develop an outdoors activities area to include facilities for skate boards, climbing frames and other amenities.
However, it seems that with the change of political power in the council chamber over the years this proposal has been shelved.
Thankfully an independent body of public-minded people are more far sighted.
