ON a recent, very pleasant, visit to your area I read of the understandable concern of the shopkeepers in Bewdley as to the lack of trade.
Having also visited Stourport, I was struck by how attractive the boats looked, moored under the willows on the riverside, and how bare and unused the quayside of Bewdley looked by comparison.
Surely, with the correct weir system, Bewdley could also benefit from visitors on the river in summer, bringing the quayside to life and extra trade to the town.
I understand there is some local resistance to the idea, but has it done Marlow, Henley and Stratford-on-Avon any harm? I don't think so.
