A Russian born in Siberia in 1957, Andre Makine always dreamed of France. Thirty years later he reached Paris, determined to write novels - in French and became a bestselling novelist.
From the Steppes to Monmartre - A journey through the life and books of Andre Makine is an evening with Geoffrey Strachan, the English translator of all seven of Makine's novels.
He brings the author and his work to life through selected readings from Makine's haunting, ironic and evocative texts at Chipping Norton theatre on Wednesday, September 25 at 8pm
Tickets, priced £4, are available from the box office on 01608 642350.
