THE search for more experience is under way after Kidderminster finished their Birmingham League Division One campaign with a losing draw at Harborne.

They were 15 runs short of their lowly rivals' total, a regular scenario in a season that has often seen eighth-placed KCC relying on teenagers.

On Saturday, Harborne elected to bat and enjoyed a good start, only losing their first wicket with 126 runs on the board in the 34th over.

Skipper Sean Lloyd caught out Dyer (39) off Luke Eversham's bowling and Harborne quickly found themselves in trouble.

Gear (84), falling to Ian Kimberlin's catch, was the first of Mark Mansell's three wickets.

Mansell dismissed Moreton for a duck in the same over to leave Harborne on 137-7 in 37 overs.

Harborne steadied themselves to add 30 runs for the fourth wicket until a rare bowling stint from Lloyd saw him remove Stevens to a Craig Wood catch for 12.

Cockcroft went for a duck and then Mansell (3-43) took his final wicket in bowling Massod for seven.

However, the home side kept adding runs and put on 30 without loss to end on 226-6, thanks to Nayyar (46 not out) and Thompson (18 not out).

KCC's bowlers had performed well as 226 was not a big score on a small ground but there was to be no big opening partnership.

Steve Davies (17) was soon followed by Gurdeep Kandola, who will be released by Worcestershire, for a duck.

At 35-2, Wood joined Mansell and the runs came but at first they were perhaps a little too cautious.

The next 10 overs only produced 18 runs but they upped the rate before Wood went for 28 with the score on 143-3.

Richard Bradford helped form a steady partnership before Mansell was out leg before for a superb 92.

With several inexperienced batters to come in, KCC were suddenly faced with problems, especially when Chris Pyke went for 10 and Lloyd for a duck.

It was backs to the wall with the scoreboard reading 203-7 but Bradford (42 not out) and Gomez Vincent (1 not out) held out.

Harborne 226-6, KCC 212-7.

KCC finished fourth from bottom in the Seconds Premier Division after a final day defeat against Harborne.

P Mitchell was impressive with 86 runs in the total but Harborne powered home by five wickets.

KCC 2nds 237-6, Harborne 239-5.
