WORKMATES from a Worcester-based energy supplier threw themselves out of a plane recently, all in the name of charity.

Sarah Pearson, Richard Spencer and Sue Sowden all work at npower's head office, in Bridgwater Road, Warndon.

They bravely completed tandem skydives recently with the Red Devils, from 12,000 feet, to raise funds for the Royal National Institute for the Blind.

They were joined by Rob Sawle, from the company's Stoke office, for the jump, which raised £600, including £350 donated by npower.

The company's Community Volunteer scheme acknowledges the work employees do in their local communities and supports staff who wish to volunteer their skills.

"npower is committed to helping the community by supporting a wide range of charities and local projects," said Philip Kear, social and energy action director.

"We also want to acknowledge our staff who are involved in worthy community activities in their spare time."

Community groups looking to recruit volunteers can contact npower's Michelle Hannon on 01905 340627.
