ELMBRIDGE Fishery near Droitwich was the scene on Tuesday for the Northfield Starlets Veterans latest encounter.

Stan James (Bewdley) staked at Pheasant pool peg 11 where he pole fished casters and maggots up in the water for 80-6-0 of Carp. Second place went to Bill Drew (Bewdley) with 51-4-0; third was Ken Giles (Alvechurch), taking 36-5-0.

On Wednesday, Redditch matchman Brian Williams (Astwood) topped the Astwood Fisheries Bluebell pool open by pole fishing corn at peg seven for 36-15-0. Dave James (Astwood) took 32-8-0 for second while third was Joan Halfpenny (Astwood) with 29-15-0.

The C and M match group open was held on Woodlands View's Arles pool and was won by Dave Adcock (Northfield) with a pole and meat catch of 62-8-0 from peg 32. Second was Al Lees' (Midland Bears) 54-8-0 with third going to Dave Taylor (Rubery) with 39-12-0.

Thursday saw the Yorkshire Tykes Invitation open held on Woodlands View's Arles pool and Charford's Lees (Midland Bears) moved up a gear to take a winning 79-6-0 catch taken with pole fished strawberry meat from peg 22. Glyn Archer (Tight Lines) followed with 6-12-0; third, Geoff Vause (Yorkshire Tykes), took 42-2-0.

The KH Veterans held their event on Woodlands View's Barley and Hay pools with Alan Ryan (Worcester) heading a good score sheet with a pole, maggot and worm catch of 77-10-0 from Hay pool peg 15.

Lady angler Pat Kavanagh (Stourbridge) continued her good run with a second placed 65-8-0. Third was Mike Millinchip (Kidderminster) with 64-2-0.

At Moorlands Farm, the special costcutter open saw David James (Moorlands) have a clear victory by short pole fishing corn at Meadow Pool peg 58 for 127-0-0. Second placed Mark Tooze (Lifestyle) weighed in with 78-4-0 while John Cooper (Wednesbury) took 66-3-0 for third.

James (Moorlands) made it two in a row by winning the Friday costcutter open with a mammoth 205-4-0 Carp catch, again it was short pole and corn that did the trick from Meadow peg 12.

More big catches followed with Mike Lutwyche (Fosters MG) taking 169-2-0 and third went to Brian Cawley's (West Bromwich) 114-0-0.

The Woodlands View afternoon open was won by Mark Westwood (Woodlands) with a pole corn and meat catch of 113-1-0 from Arles pool peg 25. Sean McCarthy (Pill Angling) was second with 110-15-0 and third was Paul Newman's (Morgans) 109-15-0.

On Saturday, the Woodlands View Deans pool open produced just one ton-up catch, going to Les Thompson (Shakespeare) who pole fished worm and casters at peg 53 for 106-1-0. Second place went to Matt Cox (Fieryholes) with 87-12-0 and third to Kevin Slade (AOK), taking 79-1-0.

Moorlands Farm's two and half hour evening Meadow pool open gave James a triple victory and again it was corn that produced a 113-10-0 catch from peg 15. Andy Newton (Lifestyle) followed with 103-13-0. Steve McGrath (Moorlands) was third with 80-13-0.

Sunday's Moorlands Farm Island and Middle pools open was topped by Chris Cameron (Gloucester) with a short pole and corn catch of 47-6-0 from Island peg 13. Close on his heels was Cawley (West Bromwich) with 46-8-0 while third went to John Ruse (Telford) with 40-10-0.

The Astwood Fisheries Smokey Joes pool open gave Mike Conlon (Reservoir Dogs) a close verdict with a 28-8-0 catch of Cruchians. Brian Williams (Astwood) just missed the double with a second placed 27-14-0. Third was James (Astwood) with 24-0-0.

Over in the Wyre Forest, the Furnace Mill's Mucky Meadow pool open was won by Mark Hawthorne (Vine AC) with 68-5-0 of Carp, taken with pole and meat from peg 38.

Second placed Les Thompson (Shakespeare) had 52-13-0 and Stuart Jacques (Furnace Mill) took 40-10-0 for third.
