JOSEPH Hobbis re-wrote the record books of Bromsgrove Swimming Club with an outstanding performance in the U15s 100 metres.

Hobbis swam to victory in a new club record time of 1 minute 9.24 seconds at Leamington Spa's Centenary gala last Saturday.

Also in top form were Lisa Harrison and Kayleigh Wagg, who took first in the U15s 100m breaststroke and the open 100m breaststroke respectively.

The men's open 4x2 medley relay team of Simon Smith, Stuart Corbett, Nick Hatton and Matthew Hunt secured a top three finish as did the U15s girls 4x2 medley team of Lucie Edmunds, Lisa Harrison, Claire Ashford and Jennifer Fleeman.

The girls' individual events saw Rachel Bannister finish second in her U15s 50m fly and Alice Woodyatt in her U11s 25m fly.

Loren Harrison was pipped to third place in the U13s 50m breaststroke.

In the season's opening gala on Saturday, August 31, the club beat Redditch for top spot by 17 points.

Victory was aided by a powerful start with in the U9s. Phillipa Thomas and Jack Brehaut set a superb pace with strong finishes in the 25-metre backstroke.

Alice Woodyatt took the U11s 50m fly while Richie Edmunds seized the 50m backstroke.

Ryan Cooper powered through the 50m breaststroke and butterfly races.

Strength lay in the U12s group with Emily McNally taking the 50m freestyle in a time of 31.17 seconds and Tom Mansell, who won the 50m breaststroke and freestyle with ease.

Anthony Shipton strolled to victory in the 50m backstroke and butterfly events before winning the relays with Lizzie Sydenham, Olivia Alton, Amy Wright and Hannah Brehaut.
