TWO Spa girls are celebrating their success this week after flying through their ballet exams.
Christine Newton, aged 19, who lives in Tagwell Road, and Laura Grindley, 17, of Welland Close, sailed through their intermediate foundation ballet examination, which is set by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.
Both of the teenagers go to the town's Vonya Carlton School of Dance, which is run from various venues including Salwarpe Village Hall and Whitford Hall and Dodderhill School, in Crutch Lane.
Vonya, the girls' dance teacher said: "This is the first major vocational examination in ballet that they have taken and I'm very proud and pleased for them both."
The result is a tremendous boost for Christine, a senior carer at Droitwich's Ravenstone Nursing Home, in St Andrew's Road.
She has been dancing since the age of six and harbours the ambition to become a qualified ballet teacher.
Laura, who has been dancing since the age of five, is currently a student at Worcester Sixth Form College and is looking forward to a career in advertising and marketing after university.
She does however plan to continue dancing in her spare time as a hobby.
Vonya added: "Ballet is a wonderful career or hobby and, with results like this, it can bring an immense sense of achievement too.
"Both girls have tremendous talent and I wish them all the very best for the future."
