THE Governors of North Bromsgrove High School have appointed Clive Pemberton as the new head to succeed Kevin Peck, who left at the end of the summer term.

Mr Pemberton, aged 47, is currently deputy head of Cheltenham Bournside School and Sixth Form Centre, which has 1,750 pupils on it register.

He has been deputy there for eight years

He is an honours graduate of St Peter's College, Oxford, where he read English and medieval literature and took a post graduate masters degree in dialectology at Leeds University.

He is married with a son about to start at Sheffield Hallam University and a daughter just starting Year 11 at a comprehensive school in Stroud, where the family currently live.

Mr Pemberton received confirmation last Tuesday that he had landed the job and he says he is looking forward to coming to Bromsgrove to take on what will be his first headship.

"I was very impressed with the warmth and enthusiasm of pupils and staff when I visited the school," he said.

Mr Pemberton's leisure interests include cricket, which he plays for a village team, and football.

Mr Peck left Bromsgrove after 12 years to become head of the Chase High in Malvern.
