THERE were plenty of smiles at one Spa school after pupils and staff discovered they had won a prestigious town competition.
Witton Middle School, in Old Coach Road, was celebrating after hearing that it had won the best school floral display category when the winners of the Droitwich Spa in Bloom contest were announced.
There were six categories in this year's contest - the other winners included the Waterside for the best community floral display and Copcut Court for the best sheltered accommodation floral display.
Councillor Pam Davey (Con - DroitSouth), leader of Droitwich Spa Town Council which organises the annual event, said: "We were delighted to have been able to involve the wider community, including schools, this year and I am sure this contributed to the town gaining the silver gilt in the Britain in Bloom competition.
"We were also very pleased with the standard of the entries in the competition and were very impressed by the many other gardens in the town which we would like to encourage to join in the competition next year."
