REGARDING N Taylor's letter (You Say, September 11), how I wish that we paid a deposit on plastic and glass bottles as we used to years ago.
Surely this would encourage people to take them back to the shops.
One only has to walk around the parks, streets and shopping areas to see the range of plastic drinks containers thrown around.
We have so many glass beer, wine, spirit bottles discarded in bushes that I am sure there must be a king's ransom to be had if only these had a deposit paid on them in the first place.
The bottles can be recycled and this would surely make economical and environmental sense to use what we, the consumer, dictates to the manufacturer.
