I READ in the Evening News that a man recently tried to deposit waste at the Bilford Road site but was unable to do so because it was closed.
A notice on the gate advised him to go to the Hallow Road site, which he did, to find that closed too.
The reason given, according to your newspaper, by a spokesperson for Severn Waste, was absolutely pathetic. She stated that in accordance with their licence, they had to close the site every time a skip was full and had to be replaced. This is not so.
When I was told the site was closed, I went to the gates, and was informed the facility would remain closed for two hours due to an incident.
We who are unfortunate enough to live near this dump would like to know what this incident was - perhaps the Department of Environment could find out and let us know.
