BROMSGROVE Rovers joint manager Jon Ford has warned against talking up the club's promotion chances despite their fantastic start to the season.

Free-scoring Rovers, who have notched 15 goals in their last four league and cup matches, lead the Dr Martens Western with five wins from six and have conceded just twice.

They have also progressed to the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup following last Saturday's 5-0 defeat of Gresley Rovers at the Victoria Ground.

But, with 36 league games still ahead of them before next May, Ford is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

He said: "It's too early to talk about promotion. I believe that we are a top eight side at this moment in time.

"I believe there are better sides who we have not come across and we have got to keep this run going without any panicking.

"I am not getting carried away with us being top of the league - it's a long season.

"I think we will be okay. We have a good squad and we will take every game as it comes."

Next in Rovers' firing line is Cirencester Town at the Victoria Ground this Saturday (3pm).

And Ford is happy to have the luxury of Richard Burgess, Paul Danks and Les Palmer's goal scoring prowess at his and Gary Hackett's disposal.

"We are in a very good position in that we have three top class forwards and it's keeping them happy and it's very hard to do that."

Rovers follow the visit of Cirenester up with a home local derby clash against Stourport Swifts next Tuesday (7.45pm).
