DARREN Jones was the hero for Pegasus Juniors last night as they progressed from the Norman Matthews Floodlit Cup preliminary round with an excellent 3-1 triumph at the previously undefeated Highworth Town.
Pegasus got off to the perfect start when Jones latched onto a Pete Wallace header to give the Hereford side the lead after three minutes.
Darren Preece then added a second after 15 minutes to give Pegasus a 2-0 lead at the interval.
Although Richard Plumb got one back for the home side, Jones rounded off a fine passing move to seal his second and victory for the struggling side.
The win sets up a first round tie at Bicester on 9th October.
* It was also a good night for Ledbury Town who recorded a fine 2-1 victory at Tividale in the West Midland Premier Division.
* Worcester City's youth team are in FA Youth Cup action tonight.
They play in the second qualifying round against Devizes at St George's Lane (7.45).
