ABSOLUTELY fantastic are the only words I can think of to described Oh! What a Night.

I went to watch the production, which is running at Birmingham's Hippodrome until Saturday, September 21, knowing little about the story line or even what decade it was set in.

However, as soon as the curtains drew back it all became clear.

With vibrant costumes and fantastic choreography the stage came alive with perfect renditions of more than thirty classics from the 70s.

With a young, lively cast of around 25 members, the energy failed to stop as they took the audience through the story line of a young English singer's bid for fame and fortune in America during 1976.

Sheila Ferguson, best known as the lead singer from the legendary Three Degrees, made a briefer appearance than I expected although she made a come-back in the second half, helped along by some old-time classics including 'I will survive'.

By the end of the performance, which was close to two and a half hours long, the whole of the audience, young and old, were up on their feet dancing.

My thoughts - oh what a night!
