POLICE in the Wyre Forest are warning elderly people to be on their guard after three pensioners were duped by bogus officials.
A woman in her 80's lost £140 after two men conned their way into her home at Springhill Rise, Bewdley, claiming they were from the council.
The first man is described as white, 5ft 4ins tall, large build and in his late 20's. He was wearing a red and burgundy cardigan.
The second man was wearing a grey suit.
Another incident happened in Brindley Street, Stourport-on-Severn, when a man who, claimed he was from the water board, ransacked the cupboards in a kitchen.
Another elderly woman, in Areley Common, Stourport, had a lucky escape when two men called at her back door saying they had to look at some trees.
They pushed passed her into the garden but nothing is thought to have been stolen.
Another elderly woman in Springhill Rise, Bewdley, lost an undisclosed amount of cash after letting in two men, who claimed they were from the council, into her home.
"In view of the fact these thieves are active in the area, we are asking people to be particularly vigilant," said PC Andy Hill of Kidderminster crime and disorder reduction team.
