THE curtain came down on Worcester's Birmingham League Division One cricket programme when they visited Sutton Coldfield.

But due to another dismal batting performance they suffered a heavy defeat.

Batting first on a hard, dry pitch, Worcester never came to terms with pace bowler Will Speer who destroyed their batting order with a classy display which saw him claim season's best figures of 8-34.

Top scorer for Worcester was Dan McKay with 20 not out as his side were bundled out for a meagre 75 in just 35 overs.

The home side made light of their task reaching 78-2 in the 20th over with John Ship and Rob Cunliffe both making 26.

Sutton Coldfield took 20 points to Worcester's nil.

Having finished tenth in the table, Worcester will enjoy division one cricket again next season, but will be looking to improve on this season's performance.

Worcester's second XI were due to entertain Sutton Coldfield in Division Two West, but the visitors could not raise a team and Worcester were awarded the 20 points.

Worcester II have finished runners-up in their division after a consistent all-season performance. Shewsbury were crowned champions of Division One and Division Two West.
