A SECOND half comeback from Old Halesonians condemned Droitwich Rugby Club to a undeserved 20-19 defeat in Midlands West Four (South).

Late injuries to Droitwich backs Bruce Thomas and Leon Hopkins meant a re-shuffle for the Spa side with Ian Kilner coming in to the centre for his first league start and Jon Fideo playing out of position on the wing.

Early pressure from the home side was absorbed by Droitwich who put together some fine passages of play to see Gareth Knight score, Matt Blackmore converted.

More good play saw Knight again explode clear to run in a try from 40 metres. This signalled the end of the first half scoring with Droitwich 12-3 ahead.

Old Hales then rallied and pressurised the Droitwich line until some basic errors gifted the home side with two easy tries.

This changed the complexion of the game, but Droitwich had the strength to re-organise and mount a determined attack which saw the ball fed out to Fideo who used his strength and skill to cut through the defence to score.

The home side again came back and it was another error by Droitwich which gave possession to Old Hales who manufactured a score under the posts to clinch victory.
