A LAPTOP device that gives a teenager who does not have any speech the ability to "talk" has gone missing from a bus.

Ann Brant's 13-year-old daughter has used the "lightwriter" since February this year.

"It has opened up her whole world," said Mrs Brant of Lower Wick.

"She does not have any speech and this machine talks for her.

"Since she has had it she has really come along at school."

The communication aid, which is roughly the size and shape of a laptop computer, went missing on board a bus transporting pupils to Manor Park School in Worcester.

The bus, owned by Brookside Taxis, is also used to ferry clubbers to Bamboo nightclub, in Cripplegate Park.

Mrs Brant, who asked for her daughter not to be named, said someone might have taken it, thinking it was a laptop computer.

"It is of no use to anyone else," said Mrs Brant. "We contacted police but nothing has been reported yet."

Mrs Brant said she had also contacted the taxi firm, but the communication aid had not been handed it.

"I phoned the nightclub and nothing," she said.

"I have checked all round.

"If anyone does have any information about where it is there may be a small reward."

The communication aid is made by Toby Churchill and is in a black canvas carry case with a black shoulder strap.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of the communication aid, or has any information which might help track it down, they should contact Manor Park School on 01905 423403.

Alternatively, information can be given to Worcester police on 01905 723888 or by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
