A WORCESTER company's reputation as one of the best in its trade has resulted in it gaining a part in a BBC television programme, due to be shown next week.

Insulation specialist CosyCoat Insulation Ltd is to be featured on Wednesday's edition of A Land Worth Loving, a series of programmes looking at the effects of human activities on Earth.

Timed to coincide with the 2002 Earth Summit in Johannesburg, the 60-minute documentary for BBC1 focuses on quality of life in the UK.

Staff from the Barbourne-based company will be seen insulating a Bristol house during the programme, presented by Nick Knowles.

Chris Hume, the managing director of CosyCoat, part of Mark Insulation Limited, said he was delighted to be featured in the programme, in which the house is given an energy makeover.

He added landing the slot on the programme had come about because of a recommendation by the manufacturers of the insulation material used.

"The BBC asked the manufacturer who would be the best to use and it recommended us," he explained.

We have a very good reputation throughout the country and are very professional."

He added that the show would demonstrate how much money homeowners could save by installing proper insulation and energy efficiency measures - even when the house is old.

The house on which company staff were filmed working was an old Victorian terraced property which, Mr Hume said, did not have any insulation.

"We insulated the roof, the walls and under the floors, which will make a big difference to the house and its running costs," he added.

"The show demonstrate that all houses, whatever their age, can be energy efficient and save their occupiers money in the process."

Mr Hume added the savings were possible not just after the insulation work and measures had been fitted.

He said that were are a number of grant schemes available and, depending on how much insulation was installed, up to 60 per cent savings could be made on fuel costs.
