COLWALL cruised to a convincing win in their penultimate league match over Bewdley to leave their final home game against fellow title contenders Worcester.

COLWALL III v BEWDLEY III

Having been put into bat on a rain affected wicket Colwall lost Phil Thomas early on to Stannard. Skipper Lewis (22) and vice captain David Child steadied the ship and as the wicket dried out.

Child dominated the attack ending in a deserved maiden not out century for his club. David was ably supported by Matt Berry (30) and another fine innings from Gareth Bakewell (59no). Colwall had to gain a victory to maintain their title chance and they declared at 225-3, leaving them 52 overs to dismiss Bewdley.

In reply, Keith Holland picked up two early wickets with one being an excellent close catch by Clive Kendall. Bewdley never recovered with Eddie Hill picking up three middle order wickets from some excellent slip and gully catches from Thomas and Holland respectively. It was down to Doc Colquhoun to mop up the tail including a possible hat-trick finally dismissing the visitors for 119 off 31.4 overs.

Colwall's game against Worcester tomorrow (Saturday) starts at 1pm at Ghost Meadow.
